American violinist, Christina Knudson can be heard performing and touring throughout Japan with Tokyo-based IlluminArt Philharmonic Orchestra. She continues to maintain her contract with the California Symphony by traveling to America to perform. In addition to these orchestras, Ms. Knudson has performed widely across the San Francisco Bay Area and has participated in the National Repertory Orchestra in Colorado, the National Orchestral Institute in Maryland and the Hot Springs Festival in Arkansas. During her stay in Hot Springs, Ms. Knudson appeared as soloist with the Hot Springs Festival Orchestra for a masterclass with Janet Sung. Aside from her classical work, she has recorded with indie rock bands such as The Family Crest and Elevate Ensemble and performed with artists Zoe Keating, Third Eye Blind and Fujii Fumiya.
As a passionate educator, Ms. Knudson has maintained a private violin studio for over 14 years, teaching throughout Southern and Northern California and most recently in the Kanto region of Japan. While in the Bay Area, she led the Napa Valley Youth Symphony, Sinfonia Strings ensemble and developed a new program aimed at bridging younger students into the full orchestra. Ms. Knudson is a registered Suzuki Violin Teacher and currently maintains a private violin studio from her home in Kawasaki, Japan.
Ms. Knudson received her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from California State University, Long Beach, where she graduated magna cum laude. She graduated with a Master of Music at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and completed the Professional Studies Diploma program the following year as a scholarship student of Bettina Mussumeli. She has previously studied with Phillip Levy, Bing Wang, Mateja Marinkovic and Catherine Van Hoesen. In her spare time, Ms. Knudson enjoys running and playing with her newborn baby.
